1673 Manchester, Collegiate Church Burials 1573-1868 £8.51 90gms
In 1848 the Collegiate Church dedicated to SS Mary, Denys and George, became Manchester Cathedral. At the same time, the principal parish burial ground closed. Approaching 150,000 people were buried in the Old Churchyard and the three “overspill” burial grounds at Apple Market, Angel Meadow and Walkers Croft from 1573 to 1848 (and a small number in the Cathedral burial ground over the following 20 years). Many of those buried were paupers who in the later years formed the majority of those buried. This CDROM contains details of all burials recorded in the burial registers of Manchester Collegiate Church (Cathedral) arranged in order of surname/forename/date of burial and contains all of the information contained in the original register entries.

1678 Presbyterian Church of England Records of Manchester Presbytery £8.51 90gms
This data is presented in DVD format. In the early 19th century Scottish emigrants to England founded churches based on the Presbyterian system of the Church of Scotland. By 1876 these churches formed the basis of the Presbyterian Church of England. Many Scots arriving in England looked for a Presbyterian church and so the records are a valuable source of information in the search for Scottish Strays or for non-Scots who were non-conformists. This disc contains surviving records from the Manchester Presbytery. The first two documents are transcripts of surviving communion and baptismal rolls. The Communion Rolls in most cases show when someone joined the church, and from whence they came; their addresses; and, if they left, where they went. The baptismal Rolls are detailed giving the maiden name of the mother, the occupation of the father as well as date and place of birth. In addition to the rolls, the DVD contains images of a number of Church magazines and Annual Reports which give an insight into the lives of the members. The data is presented as an Adobe Acrobat file. Self-extracting copies of Acrobat Reader 5 (for Windows 98) and 9 (for Windows XP/Vista) are included on the DVD and can be installed, if required, once the program has started. Transcripts: Communion Roll (78,000 entries from 19 churches) Baptismal Roll (10,000 baptisms 1802-1970) Ainsworth, Baptisms 1769-1900 & Burials 1641-1960 Wharton, Burials 1869-1921 Annual Reports (images) Chorlton Church, 1903-1932 Sale Church, 1874-1914 Whalley Range Church, 1884-1915 Members (images) Pendleton Church, Members List 1913 Monthly Magazines (images) St.Andrew, Bolton, Messengers 1887-1937 St.Andrew, Heaton Chapel, Messenger 1920-1934 Trinity Church, Rochdale, Magazine 1904-1929 Whalley Range Parish Magazine 1924-1926

These transcriptions, together with a further 45 relating to memorials which had previously been removed, also appear there, together with an index to the 3,834 names which they record. The data is presented as an Adobe Acrobat file.
